Iowa is a secondary hiring area, and the freight is already there: 2.5% of our pickups and deliveries this year touched Iowa, across 66 refrigerated lanes that start or end in Galt, Cedar Falls, New Hampton, and Davenport. Pickups and deliveries here run about even, so trips both start and end near home. Those loads connect to 15 other states on our board. The busiest of those lanes runs from Farina, IL to Galt, IA.
Iowa freight for us is small-town freight: Galt, Cedar Falls, New Hampton, and Storm Lake show up on the board far more than Des Moines does, with Davenport and Sioux City on the edges. Much of it moves between Iowa and Missouri, Illinois, and Arkansas, so an Iowa driver rides lanes that pass close to our yard on the way home. I-35 is the spine of the trip.
